2 B Theatre presented 'King Lear' by William Shakespeare at Nottingham's Sandfield Theatre from Tuesday 24th to Saturday 28th February at 7.15pm with Wednesday and Friday Matinees at 2pm.
Lear, once a powerful and respected ruler, intends to divide his kingdom between his three daughters, Goneril, Regan and Cordelia in exchange for their words of love. It is as a result of this 'love test' that the true colours of Goneril & Regan are revealed which, along with Cordelia's unexpected silence, quickly send Lear intor a spiralling cascade of rage and madness, through which the very kingdom he sought to protect may ultimately be destroyed.
2 B Theatre's production of King Lear received the support of Richard Briers, Dame Judi Dench, Brian Cox and Oliver Ford Davies. The production took the original text and placed it in a contemporary setting. The company created a world that is both accessible and enjoyable, remaining ever true to Shakespeare's wonderful masterpiece.

The Sandfield Theatre is one of Nottingham's theatre gems. It continues to stage the very best in local and international work, and is easily located off Derby Road, opposite the Savoy Cinema, just down from Nottingham City Centre.
