APRIL 2008: WORLD WAR ONE WORKSHOP SUCCESS!
2 B Theatre-In-Education
2 B Theatre-In-Education led a highly successful 2 hour workshop at a leading Nottinghamshire school. The workshop was commissioned to support study of the classic play: Journey's End.
Kitted out in full WW1 uniforms and armed with identities taken from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Year 8 pupils experienced first hand trench life, from digging latrines, cosuming rations to going over the top. The day proved emotional, yet insightful in giving the young people a profodun glimpse into the cameradie that existed, as well as the hardships faced.
FEBRUARY 2008: THE TRIAL OF THE TRUNCHBULL!
2 B Theatre-In-Education
To support the study of Roald Dahl's masterpiece Matilda, 2 B Theatre-In-Education led a group of Year 5 pupils in a mock trial of Miss Trunchbull.
Pupils took on the identity of characters not just from Matilda but from other Roald Dahl stories, and acted as witnesses, and ultimately jury, as they presented evidence to the court as to Miss Turnchbull's capacity to be a head mistress.
As well as developing understanding of the characters and the stories' themes of bullying, prejudice etc, the children also gleaned a valuable insight into the British legal system (albeit with some artistic licence!)
